The 2026 Declaration of Independence (America250) celebration is a series of nationwide, year-long events in remembrance with the signing on July 4, 2026. The Jacksonville Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will present a number of local events and activities during the year-long celebration. Additional information about each presentation will be released closer the event.
On Sunday, February 15 beginning at 3:00 pm, members of the SAR-Jacksonville Chapter in partnership with the Mandarin Community Club and others will host a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Mandarin Community Club, 12447 Mandarin Road Jacksonville.
On Saturday, March 28 beginning at 10:00 am, the SAR Jacksonville Chapter will present its annual recognition of the Battle at Thomas Creek located at the Seaton Creek Historic Preserve in northeast Jacksonville.
On Saturday, April 2, at 10 am the Jacksonville Chapter of SAR will conduct ceremonies to officially designate the 250-year-old Treaty Oak Tree, located in the Jesse Ball DuPont Park,1207 Prudential Dr, as an official nationally recognized Liberty Tree.
Then on Saturday, June 20th the Jacksonville SAR Chapter will commemorate the Battle of Alligator Bridge which took place on June 30, 1778 in Nassau County during the American Revolutionary War. The recognition will be held at the Nassau County Fairgrounds multi-purpose building, 543350 US Highway in Calahan, Florida with additional details to follow.
July 4th 250 Celebration in Jacksonville will be announced with additional details to follow as plans are finalized.
Wednesday, July 8th, a Spirit of America Celebration reading of the Declaration of Independence and bell ringing will be presented by both Jacksonville Chapters of DAR and SAR at the Orange Park Town Hall. The designated time for Jacksonville will be at 6:00 p.m. following with bell ringing to recreate that original event.
